Watchmen

Dog carcass in alley this morning, tire tread on burst stomach. This city is afraid of me. I have seen its true face.
The streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood and when the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown.
The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout "Save Us!"
...and I'll look down, and whisper, "No".

I read Watchmen again. I don't need to say how amazing this book is, but it is a beautiful piece of art. I have read it six times now and I find something new in it each time I read it. I have so many favorite parts, but what sticks out to me right now is when Laurie realizes who her father is. Not to ruin it for anybody who is new to the book, but it is one of the greatest ironically beautiful scenes I have ever witnessed. I could go on forever about this book, but I will stop now.
